Wedding flower decor: 8 beautiful ideas
Individuality and creativity are now appreciated without exaggeration in everything - in the interiors, clothing, gifts and, of course, in the design of events. And what could be more important than your own wedding? Decoration of the hall, chairs, photo zones - all these years have been trusted by florists and decorators. But if you go in the direction of experimentation and do flower decor yourself? We already have 8 interesting ideas for you!
1. Flower heart for the wedding
For a tender and romantic heart, you need a thick cardboard or an old box, a stationery knife and flowers. And also - ribbons, lace, sisal rope and various little things for decoration. Cut out a cardboard base template in the form of a heart (you can glue two identical ones for strength).
Tie a ribbon or rope to it, from which you will make a loop, then to hang the jewelry. Cut the flowers, leaving a small part of the stem, and begin to lay them out along the contour. A stapler is best for mounting, although a glue gun will do.
Spread the buds tightly to completely hide the cardboard frame, and hide all connections behind the leaves and petals. It remains only to cross the heart with ribbons, beads, decorate with sparkles or rhinestones. In the same style, you can make whole inscriptions or, for example, decorate with flowers only part of the heart.
2. Flower sculptures
An invaluable material in the manufacture of floral decor for a wedding is a floral sponge. From it you can make small decorative compositions on the table or even whole sculptures. Take ready-made formed blocks or cut the desired shape yourself.
Before starting work, the sponge should be slightly soaked with plain water. You can glue the sides with leaves, twigs, wide flat flowers or decorate with ribbons and lace. Cut the buds for the composition, leaving a stalk 8-10 cm long (depending on the thickness of the sponge). And then just in turn, stick the flowers tightly into the blank to hide it completely.
3. Decoration of wedding columns with flowers
Cascading flower arrangements are ideal for lightweight and beautifully decorated columns. The main thing is to choose the right plants without a sharp aroma, a suitable shape and in the same style. Be sure to make sure that all buds are dense and strong, and the inflorescences are stable, otherwise they will quickly fly right over the guests' heads.
Flowers can be sewn to fabric, attached to a special grid, fixed with a stapler, or simply glued. To make the column lush, but not clumsy, dilute the buds with curly greens. Use lace, tulle and drapery, tricks, wide ribbons and other decorations.
4. Wedding arch of flowers
The wedding arch is a symbol of the altar, the gateway to a new life and the birth of a new family. This is one of the most striking elements in the design of the wedding venue, so fresh flowers will be very welcome here. Just make sure that the arch, floor vases, a bouquet of the bride and the rest of the floral decor are combined.
Be sure to consider the width of the arch in combination with the splendor of the dress, because the newlyweds must fit in it and not hurt the design. Do not overload the frame so that it is stable, does not stagger or fall over. Whole flower pots with stones and sand can be used as weighting agents at the base.
The frame is good to drape with chiffon, tulle or organza - they are light and airy. Use tape, stapler, and tack to shape. Start decoration with paper flowers and other “eternal” elements, but live buds are better to add closer to the ceremony.
5. Floral arrangements on the table
Instead of large bouquets, try decorating the wedding table with small floral arrangements. They look more elegant, do not take up much space and do not interfere with guests. Take the different flowers that remain from the arch and floor decor, and lay out the neat “ikebans” of them.
Bouquets from different plants look interesting, but in the same style or color scheme. Instead of vases, take small cans, cover them with lace, cloth or decorate with decoupage. Add greens, ribbons, beads and other decorations - and the table decor is ready. By the way, the same mini-bouquets can be given to guests in the form of a small pleasant souvenir.
6. Decorating chairs with flowers
Massive fabric floor covers have long been out of fashion, but this is not a reason to abandon the elegant decor of chairs. Instead of tightening it with a dense impermeable fabric, take a wide section of chiffon or organza, pass it through the crossbars and tighten with a pick-up tape. And instead of a big banal bow, insert flowers or whole green branches into the knot.
7. Wedding glasses with flowers
Holiday glasses decorated with fresh flowers or petals look very gentle and romantic. To do this, you will need small inflorescences and buds or large flat petals - depending on the rest of the design. By the way, fabric petals look no worse, and working with them is easier and more convenient.
Wash thoroughly, dry and degrease the wine glasses with alcohol so that the parts hold well. And then start gradually from the bottom up on the glue gun to spread the petals, forming a bud around the glass. Gently glue the following layers only on the bottom and carefully bend with your hands.
Do not reach the very top - let there be not too many of them. When you finish, wrap the bottom of the flower bed with tape for additional fastening, and to hide joints and small traces of glue. It remains only to decorate the petals with light beads and rhinestones-droplets.
8. Hanging flower decor
Hanging flower pots hanging from the ceiling above the table give the wedding hall a festive atmosphere. It can be bouquets, and living flowerpots, which you can then plant in the garden at the cottage. The main thing is that they be in the same style, color scheme or concept.
The simplest, most affordable and at the same time reliable suspension is improvised baskets using the macrame technique. You only need a tight rope, which you need to cut into 6-8 pieces of the same length. Tie them from the bottom, leaving a decorative brush, then knit them in pairs with the knots up, forming a small "string bag", and from above tie a ring for hanging.
